Your numbers

Use the same unit (eaches or cases) and the same kind of day for all three. Numbers only, up to 6 decimal places, no commas. Safety stock is the buffer you have chosen; the calculator does not pick it for you.

Reorder point: 170 units

Rounded up: 170 units.

Reorder when usable stock falls to this level. It is not the quantity to buy.

What the result means

The result is the stock level at which to place your next order: expected demand during the lead time plus your safety stock. It does not forecast demand, pick a safety stock for you or tell you how much to buy. Use one unit and one kind of day throughout. Everything runs in your browser; nothing you type is sent or saved.

Example: 10 units a day × 14 days + 30 units of safety stock = reorder at 170 units.

Before you turn the result into a purchase order

  • Compare it with your inventory position: on hand plus on order minus backorders.

  • Check when open orders will actually arrive and whether that stock is already promised.

  • Work out the order quantity separately, rounding to case packs and supplier minimums.

  • Review safety stock with whoever owns service levels; this formula does not model variability.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

The calculator shows the exact figure and the figure rounded up to a whole unit. That rounding is not a case-pack or MOQ calculation.

Use it with care. Averages hide seasonality and lumpy demand, so a forecast or time-phased plan is usually better for those items.
