Odoo alternative for inventory and purchasing: Convexity vs Odoo
A full business suite against software that does inventory and purchasing in depth. Which one fits depends on what is broken.
Odoo is a full business suite. Convexity focuses on inventory, orders and purchasing for distributors. Compare scope, AI, setup and cost.
Sources checked: .
Short answer: Odoo is a modular business suite. You pick from apps for accounting, CRM, manufacturing, inventory, purchasing and much more, and configure them yourself or with a partner. Convexity covers one slice of that, inventory, sales orders, forecasting and purchasing for distributors and brands, and goes further on deciding what to buy. If you want one vendor for the whole company, look hard at Odoo. If your accounting works and the pain is stock and purchasing, Convexity is the narrower fix.

|---|---|---|
| Scope | Inventory, sales orders, demand forecasting and purchasing. Accounting stays in QuickBooks Online. | Integrated apps including Inventory, Purchase, Manufacturing and Accounting |

When Odoo is the better choice
Choose Odoo if you want accounting, CRM, website and inventory from one vendor, and you have an internal admin or a partner to set it up. It also suits teams that are comfortable creating and tuning reordering rules product by product.
When Convexity is the better choice
Your accounting already works and you do not want to replace it to fix purchasing.
You have thousands of SKUs and maintaining a reorder rule for each one is not realistic.
Orders come in through Amazon, Walmart, TikTok Shop, Whatnot, BigCommerce or Shopify, plus EDI, reps and email, and stock has to be right across all of them.
You want the vendor to do the data migration, not hand you a configuration project.
Can you keep Odoo and add Convexity?
Sometimes. We do not have a ready-made Odoo connector. If Odoo stays as your ERP, we work out which records Convexity needs (items, stock, open orders, purchase orders), check your Odoo edition and API access, and agree what writes back before anything goes live.
How to test both in a demo
One item with a supplier minimum, a case pack and a lead time that keeps changing.
One customer order that ships partially, then has a line cancelled.
One purchase order that arrives short, with a new date for the rest.
One purchase suggestion: ask each system to explain where the number came from.
Your accounting entries, user permissions and the data exports you rely on.
Bring the workflow you are testing in Odoo. We will show you the same work in Convexity and point out anything that needs a closer look.

Frequently asked questions
Is Convexity an Odoo alternative?
For inventory, sales orders and purchasing, yes. Convexity is not a full business suite, so it does not replace Odoo's CRM, HR or website apps. Most Convexity customers keep QuickBooks Online for accounting.
Can we keep Odoo and use Convexity for purchasing?
Possibly. There is no ready-made Odoo connector, so we first confirm your Odoo edition, API access and the records involved, then agree what Convexity reads and writes back before going live.
How do Odoo's AI features compare with Convexity's?
Odoo documents AI agents and server actions that run prompts inside its workflows. Convexity lets Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini work on your inventory and purchasing data through MCP. Test both on the same question, such as which items will run out before the next delivery.
